Client Stories Although we believe we do a fair job describing the services we provide, perhaps it is better to hear the story as told by our clients. Here, four of our clients tell why they placed their faith and confidence in GTRUST.
When I lost my husband five years ago, I didn't know where to turn to for help. My two children were still in high school, and my daughter would be starting college the next year. I received a substantial sum of money from life insurance, and my husband had accumulated a fair amount in his retirement plan, but I didn't know what to do with it. My attorney suggested that I talk with Daryl Craft at GTRUST. I was nervous about the meeting because I had no experience in dealing with finances, other than my own small IRA. One thing that I particularly remember about that first meeting was that Daryl listened to what I had to say...he asked about me, my family and my husband. He did not try to sell me anything. As I became more comfortable with him, he seemed to sense it and he began to offer specific suggestions to address the needs I obviously had. I started by setting up an account for him to invest the insurance proceeds. Then we rolled my husband's retirement into an IRA with GTRUST and I moved my own IRA to GTRUST. Probably a year later, Daryl worked with my attorney to set up a trust for me. More recently we have set up IRA's for my children and Daryl helped me to convert part of my IRA to a Roth IRA. I consider Daryl to be more than just an advisor, I consider him a family friend. Whenever he calls, he always asks how my kids are doing. I feel like I can call him to ask about anything, whether it is related to my account or not. I am truly grateful to have found out about GTRUST. Through lots of hard work and an equal amount of good luck, my wife and I have made our business a success. The company has grown from two employees to twenty. We are now fortunate to not have to worry where our next meal is coming from. Once company survival was no longer an issue, it was important to us to share our good fortune with our employees. Providing bonuses to employees was one option, and we did that, but we also wanted to help our employees set aside money for retirement. A friend suggested that I contact Steve Page at GTRUST. Steve came out and visited with me about my options. He also told me what other retirement plan providers could offer and compared the costs. I selected GTRUST because they seemed to know what they were doing, and they were local. As a local businessman, it was and is important for me to deal with other local businesses. Steve met with my employees and explained to them their options. He has been back several times since to visit with new employees. Anytime one of them has a question, I just tell them to call Steve. Everyone seems happy with the plan. I've even had a couple of employees who quit and rolled their plan money over to GTRUST. I certainly would recommend them if you are looking for someone to help with your retirement plan. My husband and I put off working on our wills for years. When we finally did go to our attorney, she suggested that we consider a living trust. She gave us the names of several trustees, including GTRUST. We did not want to work with a large company where decisions about our affairs would be made somewhere else. There were several locally owned bank trustees to choose from but we worried about what might happen if they were sold to a larger bank. The folks at GTRUST were very low-key and not pushy at all. They seemed to understand our reluctance over selecting a trustee. The thing that finally cinched our decision to use GTRUST was a recommendation from a friend. My husband had mentioned that we were working on our estate plan, and our friend asked if we had been to see GTRUST. We found out that GTRUST had been managing his money for some time, and he was very happy with them. We named GTRUST as successor trustee of our trust, so they are not managing anything for us right now. However, they send us their newsletter, and have invited us to social events and investment seminars. We feel like part of their family and are comfortable that when the time comes, they will do a good job of managing our affairs. I left home when I was 21 and have not lived in Topeka since then. My dad died first, but mom was OK for a number of years. In her mid seventies, I noted a change in her...she was not as sharp as she had been and she wasn't as organized. I suggested that we talk to her attorney to see what suggestions he might have. He recommended that we consider a living trust, and he mentioned GTRUST. We ultimately created the trust and named GTRUST. Over the next couple of years my mom's condition continued to deteriorate. GTRUST was paying all of her bills, taking care of her medical insurance and seeing to her income taxes. There is no way I could have done the things necessary to take care of her. Just as important, the folks at GTRUST looked after my mom. Although I spoke with her every week by phone, it was comforting to know they were looking in on her, and looking out for her. There were a couple of times that issues arose where she was living that needed to be dealt with. GTRUST was an advocate for my mom, and me as well. Mom died last year, and GTRUST made the funeral arrangements, after consulting with me, of course. Her affairs were just wrapped up, and I have decided to leave most of the money I inherited with GTRUST. I figure I know what kind of job they did with my mother...if they do half as well with me, I'll be quite happy!
